Something Didn’t Quite Sit Right

It stayed with me longer than I expected it to. Such a small question at the time, something simple, something ordinary. And yet, a few months later, I found myself going back over things again, just to check I had the details right for my school work.
I asked the same question, in the same way.
“What time was I born?”
This time, the answer was different. Early evening.
I was about fifteen then, old enough to notice that something didn’t quite add up, even if I didn’t know what to do with that feeling. I didn’t make a scene, I didn’t question it out loud. I just went with it, the way I always had.
But I knew.
It didn’t feel like the kind of detail you would forget. I held the two answers quietly, side by side, without trying to pull them apart. It felt easier to leave it there, to carry on as everything had always been.
And yet, something had shifted, not loudly, not in a way anyone else would have seen, just enough to stay with me.
Sometimes it isn’t the answer itself, but the knowing that follows it. 🌿
